Was House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "mugged" for taking sides in the war on Christmas?

Pelosi was a guest speaker at the annual U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree lighting ceremony Dec. 2. She reminded the crowd of "all the gifts God has given us and how blessed we are" and asked Americans to pray for world peace.

With the help of Chris Gabrielsen, a fourth grader from Montana, she lit the 70-foot subalpine fir from Montana's Bitterroot National Forest – with energy-saving LED bulbs to "fight global warming."

The crowd cheered and the Air Force band played "O Christmas Tree" and "Joy to the World."

But then something curious happened.

Dozens of Christian organizations that have been providing social services, ministry and other help inside Russia are being targeted for "liquidation" by the nation's Ministry of Justice, according to a new report.

The information comes in a newsletter from a leader with an American Christian organization, Youth With A Mission, who reported he found a declaration recently on the webpage of the Russian Ministry of Justice listing the pending "liquidation" of 56 religious organizations.

The American ministry leader was out of the country and unavailable today, but his wife, contacted by WND, explained the pressure on evangelical groups is coming from a combination of resurging Russian hatred for the West, and pressure from Orthodox churches to ban outside organizations.

A Muslim lawyer has launched an extraordinary rant against Christmas, branding the celebration 'evil'.

Hate preacher Anjem Choudary claimed the festival was the 'pathway to hell' and urged his followers to boycott it.

'In the world today many Muslims, especially those residing in Western countries, are exposed to the evil celebration Christmas,' he raged in a sermon broadcast on the internet.

'Many take part in the festival celebrations by having Christmas turkey dinners.

'Decorating the house, purchasing Christmas trees or having Christmas turkey meals are completely prohibited by Allah.

'Many still practise this corrupt celebration as a remembrance of the birth of Jesus.

'How can a Muslim possibly approve or participate in such a practice that bases itself on the notion Allah has an offspring?

The Battle Has Begun

Halloween has not even come yet and the Christmas battles have already started. What is Christmas? What is X-Mas?
Christ·mas (krsms)
n.
1. A Christian feast commemorating the birth of Jesus.
2. December 25, the day on which this feast is celebrated.
3. Christmastide.
[Middle English Cristemas, from Old English Crstes mæsse, Christ's festival : Crst, Christ; see Christ + mæsse, festival; see Mass.]
Christmas·sy, Christmas·y adj.

X·mas (krsms, ksms)
n.
Christmas.
[From X, the Greek letter chi, first letter of Greek Khrstos, Christ; see Christ.]
Usage Note: Xmas has been used for hundreds of years in religious writing, where the X represents a Greek chi, the first letter of , "Christ." In this use it is parallel to other forms like Xtian, "Christian." But people unaware of the Greek origin of this X often mistakenly interpret Xmas as an informal shortening pronounced (ksms). Many therefore frown upon the term Xmas because it seems to them a commercial convenience that omits Christ from Christmas.

To the Christian the X when put in the place of Christ is taking Christ out of Christmas. The businessman would say it costs less to use X-mas or Xmas as it is less letters and takes up less space giving more room for the advertisements. This is not a good enough reason to take Christ out of Christmas.
Now for the reason I say all this.
