Can You Oppose Homosexuality at School?

Some may consider this old news but it is till very relevant even today. We must stand up and take back our Government Run A Muck. If one high school student is man enough to stand up for what he believes why can we as a nation stand up in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, and bring this nation back to God? It is past time that we open our Bibles and get down on our knees before our Lord and ask Him for forgiveness and His power working through us to bring her back to Him.

CBNNews.com - A Christian student was successful in his appeal on Friday, when he was granted the opportunity to seek damages for a violation of his free speech rights at a Kentucky high school.

After being required to participate in homosexual "diversity training," Timothy Allen Morrison was prohibited by public school policy from sharing his Christian beliefs about homosexuality.

The high school student filed a lawsuit in 2005 against the Board of Education of Boyd County, contending that he was threatened with punishment during mandatory anti-harassment training if he voiced religious beliefs opposing homosexuality.

Students were forced to take anti-discrimination education, which was set in motion by Boyd County School District officials, said Joel Oster, Senior Legal Counsel of Alliance Defense Fund, a Christian legal alliance based in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Two brothers have been released after spending more than two months in jail, and their advocates worry that even police won't be able to protect them after they were accused of blasphemy, a charge local Muslims believe is sufficient for the death penalty, according to an international Christian ministry.

International Christian Concern says the brothers only recently were released from police custody in Pakistan, and there are high levels of concern for their future.

"These two brothers will face intense social pressure from Muslims who see even the accusation of blasphemy as reason enough for execution," said Jeremy Sewall, ICC's advocacy director.

"Until Pakistan can address this societal pressure, even the best policing in the world will not be able to protect Pakistani Christians," he said.

ICC said the brothers were released after two and a half months in jail. The release followed work by the Center for Legal Aid Assistance and Settlement, a Christian legal group that works to negotiate "settlements" between Muslim accusers and Christians in that part of the world.

U.N. to make ban on criticizing Islam mandatory?

Expected proposal would criminalize such comments in U.S.

Muslim-dominated nations at the United Nations are once again pushing a religious "anti-defamation" plan that would bar worldwide all criticism of their founder Muhammad and his teaching.

According to a report by CNN's Lou Dobbs posted on YouTube (link below or in the original story), the proposal that has been repeatedly brought in recent years by the Organization of Islamic Conference states is expected to resurface as early as this spring.

This time, however, the resolution wouldn't allow nations to opt out.

"The United Nations has adopted what it calls a Resolution to Combat Defamation of Religion," Dobbs said in the report. "The U.N. now wants to make that anti-blasphemy resolution binding on member nations, including, of course, our own. That would make it a crime in the United States ... to criticize religion, in particular, Islam."

Constitutional lawyer Floyd Abrams said in the report, "What they would do would be to make it illegal to put out a movie or write a book or a poem that somebody could say was defamatory of Islam."

bA German appeals court tossed out three-month jail terms/b issued to a mother and father who homeschool their children, but the ruling also ordered new trials that could leave the parents with similar penalties, according to the uHome School Legal Defense Association/u.

uWND has reported/u extensively on the case against Juergen and Rosemarie Dudek of Archfeldt, Germany, who last summer received formal notices of their three-month sentences and issued appeals.

The 90-day sentences came about when Hesse State Prosecutor Herwig Muller appealed a lower courts determination of fines for the family. The ruling had imposed fines of about 900 euros, or $1,200, for not sending their children to school

Muller, however, told the parents they shouldnt worry about any fines, since he would send them to jail, the HSLDA reported.

Back to school ... and God

Back to school ... and God

Now that Labor Day is past, children around the country are back to school with all the schedules, studies and flurry of activity that the season brings. Most of the public school students will return to a world without prayer or the Bible and where God is mentioned in some schools only in the Pledge of Allegiance (for now). For those of us who can remember, however, we know that it has not always been so.

In 1952, President Harry Truman declared a National Day of Prayer so that annually the people of the United States would turn to God. In 1954, when I was just 7 years old and in the second grade, Congress added the phrase "Under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance so that "the children of our land, in the daily recitation of the Pledge in school, will be daily impressed with a true understanding of our way of life and its origins." By 1955, "In God We Trust" was placed on all our currency and coins because our government wanted to reflect "the spiritual basis of our way of life." By the time I was in the fourth grade, "In God We Trust" had become our National Motto by joint resolution of Congress.

N.C. home-school enrollment up 4 percent

N.C. home-school enrollment up 4 percent

By T. Keung Hui, Staff WriterComment on this story
RALEIGH — Home-school enrollment increased by about 4 percent this past school year, according to figures released today by the state Division of Non-Public Education.

State officials are estimating that 71,566 students were home-schooled for the 2007-08 school year, up from 68,707 students the prior year. The number of children being schooled at home is likely higher because parents don’t have to register with the state unless their children are at least 7-year-old.

There were 38,367 registered home-schools in 2007-08, a 6 percent increase from the prior school year.

The number of families choosing to educate their students at home has been steadily increasing since the state Supreme Court legalized homeschooling in 1985. North Carolina has generally been regarded nationally as having one of the easier homeschooling requirements for families.

In contrast, a California appellate court made national headlines in February by ruling that parents must have teaching credentials to home-school their children. North Carolina only requires parents to have a high school diploma.
